Atlanta Festival
Ballet was founded in 1989 by choreographer Gregory Aaron and
internationally
renowned
danseur Nicolas Pacaña. It is the only professional ballet
company in Atlanta's Southern Crescent.
For the past 19 years, Atlanta Festival Ballet has delighted audiences with its holiday classic The Nutcracker. Annual spring productions have included Peter Pan, Swan Lake, Cinderella, The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Coppelia, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book and The Little Mermaid. In addition, repertory concerts have included Carmina Burana, and original works such as An Artist's Life, Sing Sing Sing, Back to the 50's, Outcast, Bella Amore, Symphony in C, Paganini, Spartacus and Tchaikovsky.
Atlanta Festival Ballet is a culturally diverse company with a sincere interest in community outreach. The majority of Atlanta Festival Ballet's programming is directed toward children. As a Partner in Education with both Clayton and Henry county schools, Atlanta Festival Ballet performs before more than thousans of school-aged children yearly, most of them experiencing the magic of classical ballet for the first time.
AFB's mission is to present quality ballet and promote an
atmosphere
of acceptance and appreciation for dance performance. Atlanta
Festival
Ballet's organizational structure includes two artistic directors, one
associate artistic director, a 9 member board of directors, and
dedicated
parents and friends who staff more than 30 volunteer positions.
